StreetGames’ Pride Activity Network is a peer-support network for community organisations to share best practice and seek advice around engaging with LGBTQ+ young people through sport.
About the Pride Activity Network
StreetGames’ North West Pride Activity Network (PAN) is a peer-support network available to all community organisations in the StreetGames network who want to share best practice or seek advice around engaging with LGBTQ+ young people through sport. The network is coordinated by Beth Warriner (Doorstep Sport Advisor for Bolton, Bury and Wigan) and Sally Carr MBE (North West Area Director).
JD Foundation, the charitable arm of the JD Sports Group, have generously funded this work, in partnership with Pride Sports. This project consists of multiple elements, offers and opportunities for both community organisations and LGBTQ+ young people themselves.
Pride Activity Network meetings
StreetGames host PAN Meetings online 3 times per year, where LTOs can attend, discuss key topics, share best practice, and seek guidance and support around LGBTQ+ inclusion. Each meeting, a different LTO is also invited to present on their LGBTQ+ inclusion journey and share their successes and challenges in this area.
The next Pride Activity Network Meeting will be held on National Coming Out Day, on Friday 11th October 2024, 2-3pm.
If you would like to join the Pride Activity Network and attend the meetings, please contact Beth Warriner.
Pride Activity Network in action
In June 2024, PAN member Bolton Wanderers in the Community asked StreetGames to co-deliver an LGBTQ+ inclusion workshop in a local secondary school, Bolton St. Catherine’s Academy. The presentation focused on School Diversity Week, allyship, the history of Pride, and how we can all do our part to make the world more inclusive for LGBTQ+ people.
