StreetGames’ Family Engagement Project (FEP) aims to engage with families who are inactive, isolated or who have challenging circumstances which may impact on their health and wellbeing.
Managed by StreetGames and funded by the Welsh Government’s Healthy and Active Fund (HAF), the Family Engagement Project is working across seven Local Authorities in South Wales with a range of partners to offer physical activity, provide support and build community and family cohesion, driven by local need. The aim of the project is to increase opportunities to be active together as a family locally, supporting both physical and mental health.
Targeting families who are inactive, isolated or who have challenging circumstances which may impact on their health and wellbeing, the project works alongside community organisations to increase physical activity and develop positive habits to improve long term health and wellbeing.
Working across Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent, Newport, Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil, Cardiff and Caerphilly, families have been engaging with weekly sessions, at home activity packs, wellbeing days and locally led walking clubs, all guided by local need and local decision making.
